Bill Chapman Sr., Lake El Salto Resort:

He’s been at it longer than any other outfitter in Mexico...since 1961. When they speak of the Ole’ Hands, those that “walked the walk”...not just “talked the talk”...the outfitter who has “lodged” gringo bass fishermen at virtually every bass lake in Mexico over the years... then chances are, they must be talking about the Legendary Bill Chapman, Sr. For some, it might simply be “Dad” as many affectionately refer to him. You see, he really is the father of Mexican bass fishing and once you get to know him, you’ll understand why.

A frequent visitor to each of his lodges, Dad Chapman keeps his hand on the heartbeat of all facilities. That’s why over the years, the Bill Chapman , Sr. operations have become the “real gold standard” by which the others are judged. Bill Chapman, Sr. and his family often greet their guests with the time honored expression of “my house is your house”. He means it...they mean it...and with one visit, you’ll come to know why. Now, let me introduce you to the Bill Chapman, Sr. El Salto Resort.

When you arrive in Mazatlan and finish checking through customs you will be met in the lobby by a representative of the Chapman Lodge. Most of the arrivals are greeted by Billy Chapman, Jr., the manager of the El Salto Lodge. As introductions with your group are made, Billy will assist you in seeing that your luggage and tackle are collected and placed in the van. Cold drinks and up to the minute ‘fishing’ information are passed around freely as you are transported through Mazatlan and for a scenic drive to lake El Salto and the Lodge...a drive that takes approximately 1.5 hours. Tucked away in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains and on the shores of Lake El Salto rests the Chapman Lodge.
