Peacock Bass Fishing:
From daylight to dark-thirty...explosive action, lure rippin, drag
screamin, gear grindin, hook bendin, line bustin (sorry, but it will
happen) Peacock Fishin’!
December 4—12, 2004, found Dr. Rich Traczyk, Dr. Sean Kelley,
Dan Smith, Bill Skinner and myself back on the Unini River fishing
out of the Amazon Cutter camp. Joining us were cameramen Ranger Dave
Masterson and Jimmy along with 11 other anglers fishing the upper
reaches of the Unini on the Amazon Explorer. This was our second trip
to the Unini in2004, the first in January...it was fantastic. |
Could this one be better?
I’ll tell you later, but first... check out these stats for
the trip:
In 6 days the 16 anglers caught well over 1000 fish, but these stats
include only the “teeners”… 101 fish weighing 13#
and over...up to the 20# monsters...the real heavyweights.
16 over 13#, 17 over 14#, 19 over 15#, 23 over 16#, 8 over 17#, 8
over 18#, 6 over 19#, 4 over 20# up to a 24.5# super heavyweight.
|
That’s an average of over 6 fish per angler over
13# and get this...75% of the anglers achieved new personal bests.
During this season to date 5 fish have been released over 26#. Each
year the size of the fish seems to increase and the numbers of big
fish caught per angler rivals any location in the Amazon. If you are
after the Big Fish and several of them each day, you owe it to (cont.
